Preparation Using Phos-pho Soda
  1. The Day before the procedure drink only clear liquids. This can include water, coffee, tea, apple juice(or other juices without pulp), sports drinks, broths, popsicles, and jell-o). Sports drinks are an excellent source of electrolyte repletion and should be considered an excellent choice for clear liquids in preparation.

  2. In the evening hours around 6-7 PM take the first bottle of phos-pho soda. You can mix the phos-pho soda in clear liquids. It may be easier to consume if mixed in 2-3 glasses of clear liquids.

  3. After taking the phos-pho soda continue to drink clear liquids. The more clear liquids that are consumed the less likely you are to become dehydrated.

  4. Take the second bottle of phos-pho soda at 6 AM or at least 3 hours before your procedure mixed with one glass of clear liquids. You may follow this with one more glass of clear liquids.

  5. An alternative for early morning procedures is to take one phos-pho soda around noon the day prior to the procedure and the second phos-pho soda at 7-8 PM.

  6. If the preparation works properly green to yellow clear fluid should all that is being passed when you go to the bathroom at the end of the preparation.

  7. This preparation is not appropriate if you have kidney disease, congestive heart failure, or multiple medical problems. If you are unsure about whether the preparation is appropriate for you please consult your doctor and he may suggest a different preparation.
